Traveling With Your Pet In A Car Seat

Pet car seatThere is nothing that a dog loves more than riding along with you as you explore our beautiful country. They enjoy your camping adventures as much as you do and you go to great lengths to make them safe. Some dogs like it best when they get the opportunity to stick their head out the window as we’re driving down the highway. This can be a problem for your pet and can even injure them. Because of this, many people are turning to dog car seats when they are driving with their pet. It takes some training to get them used to it but once they adapt they do just fine.

Choosing a pet car seat doesn’t have to be complicated. There are a few things to consider and then the choice becomes easier. Choose a seat that has a comfortable cushion for them to sit on. They may be spending quite a few hours in the seat as you travel. You’ll want to know they are comfy and cozy and also be sure the seat provides enough room for them to lay down as well. You may soon find them napping sweetly as you travel down the highway.

Get a car seat that has a washable cover. You’ll want one that can be removed easily and tossed in the washing machine to freshen it up between trips. Be sure the seat can be attached securely to your vehicle, whether it be a seat in your RV or in your personal vehicle. A well anchored pet car seat is one of the most important attributes for keeping your pet safe as you drive.

If your pet is new to traveling in a car seat it’s a good idea to get them used to it slowly. You can begin by bringing the seat indoors and leaving it in an area your pet frequents. Show them the seat and urged them to climb in and get comfortable. Once your pet is relaxed in the car seat you can begin trying short trips around the neighborhood. Go a little further each time and before you know it your pet will be car seat savvy and ready to go anywhere you are.

We wish you and your pet nothing but happy trails as you travel on your camping adventures and we look forward to seeing you in the campground soon.
